One missed throw to Emmanuel Sanders late in February's Super Bowl has some wondering if Jimmy Garoppolo is the right man at quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. His critics also point to the success of the 49ers' run game in the postseason, even after Garoppolo threw for 3,978 yards and 27 touchdowns in his first full regular season as a starter.

ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio was the latest to throw out questions about Garoppolo's job security. He made a radio appearance and openly stated that unless Jimmy G steps up in 2020 there will be rumors about him losing the starting job in 2021.

Once again, a reminder that Garoppolo nearly threw for 4,000 yards and also led his team to the Super Bowl. The dominance of the team's running game should not somehow have a negative effect on how the quarterback is viewed. He also threw for 219 yards in the Super Bowl, which may seem low until remembering that Patrick Mahomes finished with 286 yards. It was a tight defensive battle.

Talk like this from Florio should draw nothing but laughs from 49ers fans. Garoppolo is still under contract through 2022 and is the best quarterback the team has had since Colin Kaepernick. He managed the offense well enough to put his team in a position to win the Super Bowl before the defense collapsed against Mahomes.

Florio seems to be creating a story where one simply doesn't exist, but are we surprised?
