The Michigan State Spartans are losing a former 3-star linebacker to the transfer portal after two years in the program.

Edward Warinner, son of the Michigan Wolverines offensive line coach who is his namesake, has decided to depart East Lansing following his redshirt freshman season.

Warinner was a 3-star prospect out of Powell, Ohio in the class of 2018. He has been a primarily special teams player for the Spartans this season, playing in seven games and recording three total tackles.

He originally chose Michigan State amid offers from schools like West Virginia, Cincinnati, and UCF.

So, where does Ed the Younger go next?

Nothing is certain, but he might fancy joining his dad in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan. The elder Warinner has been the Wolverines' offensive line coach for the past two seasons. His arrival to the Big House has seen offensive line play improve significantly, specifically in the pass protection department.

Will we see father and son united wearing Maize and Blue next season? It remains to be seen if legit mutual interest is there, but it's a subplot to keep an eye on as the offsason approaches.
