Boston Red Sox slugger Michael Chavis had an incredible first month in the bigs in 2019, but it almost got derailed before it ever began.

Chavis made his debut at Tropicana Field on April 19, 2019, and that less-than-picturesque spot for a first MLB game, it turns out, wasn't the only issue for him that day.

In classic "minor leaguer in a new town" fashion, Chavis was dragged around, fought every travel emergency possible, and still made it to The Trop... after carrying his bags an extra mile on foot.

Who among us hasn't been Chavis in this photo? Fresh off a nightmare flight, humidity beating down on your brow, and the Uber has dropped you in something that looks absolutely zero percent like your desired destination and a lot more like a construction site.

Luckily for the slugger, he wasn't needed until the following day, though he DID get quite a scare first after arriving in the locker room.

As always, thank goodness for Christian Vazquez.

Chavis' first MLB appearance took place on April 20, and resulted in a smoked double in his first AB. He'll tell you he was probably more ready by the time the moment arrived in earnest.
