Ever since Michael Chavis has arrived in the big leagues he has been the spark the Red Sox needed to get back into the AL East divisional race. After Boston's terrible start to the season, Chavis has provided Sox fans with hope that they can turn things around and make a big postseason push.

The recently-promoted infielder has given the Red Sox some new life, and even though he has not done it single-handedly, Boston has been much improved since he took over at second base. Since being called up, the Red Sox have gone 14-6 in games Chavis has played in.

Chavis has added to the Red Sox offense that has hit better of late, and just rolled over the Seattle Mariners this past weekend, including the team's 11-2 victory on Sunday, during which Chavis had 5 RBI and snapped a small cold streak.

The Red Sox currently sit third in the AL East, and are three games back from the first place Tampa Bay Rays, and will look to Chavis' hot bat to continue to narrow the gap.

Chavis also has the second most RBI's by any Red Sox within their first 20 games with the club, trailing legends Ted Williams and George Scott by just one, with 19. He continues to give the Red Sox life and has been a lightning rod for them.

On the year, the 23-year-old is slashing .282/.407/.563 with 6 home runs, 19 RBI and 14 runs scored across 20 games. He will look to continue to impress as he sees every day playing time for the reigning World Series champs.
