When it rains it pours, and right now Miami Hurricanes "quarterback" Tate Martell is caught in the eye of a hurricane.

As we know, the young gunslinger left Ohio State for South Beach in hopes that he would assume the QB1 position. And not having to worry about competing with super-prospect Justin Fields made the move all the more justified.

Welp, things didn't exactly go as planned for Martell, as he laughably lost out on the starting job to freshman Jarren Williams. Fast forward just a few days later, however, and Martell is reportedly taking reps at wide receiver for head coach Manny Diaz.

Yes, it's so bizarre (and hysterical) that it's worth repeating: Tate Martell took snaps at wide receiver during the Hurricanes' closed scrimmage on Friday. Per the Miami Herald, Diaz declined to comment on the matter at this time.

Only time will tell if Martell will make a permanent move to a pass-catching role for the 'Canes, but it's worth noting that Miami doesn't necessarily boast a ton of depth at the position. Not to mention the program's current compilation of wideouts dropped 11 passes during their second fall scrimmage.

They could actually use the rejected QB.

With all due respect, we actually admire Martell's drive to be on the field for the Hurricanes in 2019, despite the proverbial hole he dug himself in.
