It seems the New York Mets have come to the realization that dealing right-handed starter Noah Syndergaard to acquire young talent might be the best course of action.

However, there's a catch. He won't go to the Yankees. He might go to the Braves (???). And there's a chance he'll just turn into another veteran, after all of this.

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Mets are exploring a scenario where they deal Syndergaard to the San Diego Padres, only to use some of the return to acquire right-hander Marcus Stroman from the Toronto Blue Jays.

Rosenthal goes on to note that the Mets wouldn't simply be adding Stroman, as they would be acquiring pieces from the Padres, who do possess the top farm system in the sport.

So, in conclusion, the Mets would rather have Stroman over Syndergaard, who has one less year of club control over the hard-throwing right-hander, and whatever young players they don't have to send to Toronto in a trade.

Is this the most New York Mets thing you've ever heard? I guess we should give them credit for being creatively nonsensical this time.
