Darryl Strawberry's Comment From His Own Draft Day Totally Nailed His MLB Career
By Tyler Kemp

While Darryl Strawberry is one of the biggest "what ifs" in recent MLB memory, his production on the field cannot be debated. 40 years ago, the Mets drafted Strawberry with the first overall pick in the 1980 MLB Draft. A Rookie of the Year award, a few All-Star appearances and a championship later, it's clear both sides won that deal.
Once he was drafted, an 18-year-old Strawberry was asked about what he does well that will translate to the majors. His quote about what he can do on the field perfectly sums up his eventual playing career.

It is hard to deny Strawberry’s scouting report of himself. As a player who 335 home runs and had exactly 1000 RBI, Strawberry was on the money with this one.
For the younger generation who only knows the name, here is just a fragment of what he did to pitchers on a nightly basis throughout his long career.
