Despite the fact that he isn't doing hundreds of commercials, has no off-field baggage, and has been pretty much a model citizen ever since he came into the league, former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton continues to deal with talking heads in the media and in the NFL saying that he is distracted and not totally committed to football.

Panthers head coach Matt Rhule also appears to be one of the subscribers to this theory. Rhule said on Wednesday that wants to model the Panthers organization after players like running back Christian McCaffrey, who Rhule thinks is "all about the game."

Is this implying that a certain free agent quarterback was NOT all about the game? Sounds like it.

After showering the former MVP with praise in his introductory press conference, Rhule dumped Newton for Teddy Bridgewater, who signed a three-year, $60 million contract with Carolina.

Newton remains a free agent, though former Panther and current Los Angeles Chargers guard Trai Turner talked up the possibility of Newton landing in LA, where he would likely start over Tyrod Taylor at quarterback.

Newton might wear some flashy outfits to his press conferences, but it's quite the leap of imagination to connect his wardrobe choices to his passion for the game of football. If/when someone takes a chance on Cam, you can bet that he'll prove all the doubters wrong, provided his body holds up.

And speaking of "holding up a body," can someone ask Matt Rhule whether he thinks CMC's Olivia Culpo selfies prove he's all about football?
