Matt LaFleur's Offense Has Aaron Rodgers on a Career-Best Trajectory

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has long been one of the best quarterbacks in the league, but he seemed to be on the decline in a regressive Mike McCarthy offense that looked more at home on a high school field on a Friday night rather than Sunday.

As evidenced by Green Bay's win on the road against a banged up Kansas City Chiefs team this week, though, Rodgers is back to his MVP self, as he is turning the clock back to his All-Pro years in 2019.

Without healthy weapons, without his youth, Rodgers is somehow working with his best passer rating in years. And some of that has to be on the coaching staff.

Rodgers' all-time great numbers were being kneecapped by playing in McCarthy's paleolithic offense. While LaFleur may not be the most innovative guy out there, he's adept at finding what Rodgers and the receivers do best, and scheming them open with simplistic concepts.

This "less is more" approach has worked wonders for Green Bay, a team with a running game led by Aaron Jones to complement a vertical offense that is back to taking the top off of the defense.

Rodgers finally found a designer of offense that he respects and trusts, which was clearly not the case with Mike McCarthy. The Rodgers-LaFleur partnership is working magic, as they are currently 7-1 and running away with the NFC North.
