Say what you want about Masahiro Tanaka, Yankees fans, but the man delivers when it matters most. For all the inexplicable long balls he gives up during the regular season, he's pretty much nails when it comes to the playoffs.

He proved that once again in the team's ALDS Game 2 win over the Minnesota Twins on Saturday night. Sure, he got some help from the bats, which aided him with eight runs, but he shut down the Twins and was locating his pitches as good as he's been all year.

He didn't go deep into the game, but he didn't need to. This one was well out of reach from the early going, so Aaron Boone had the luxury of using some bullpen arms that would've otherwise not seen any action in this series. Take Tanaka out after 83 pitches, let him rest and prepare for his next outing, and use Tyler Lyons and Jonathan Loaisiga for two out of the four innings in relief.

Nonetheless, this adds to Tanaka's incredible postseason track record.

It's that impressive.

Yankees fans, this is your Game 7 starter. Tanaka has enraged fans in the past with his blowup outings and at times questionable struggles, but it's clear he's most comfortable in high-stakes contests, and that's all that matters at this point.

He's ready to help this team win a World Series and the organization has to feel at ease with the right-hander's abilities in October.
