It wasn't very long ago at all that Mike Locksley and Josh Gattis were colleagues, running the offense side-by-side under Nick Saban at Alabama. But now that Gattis is calling the plays at Michigan and Locksley is the head coach at Maryland, the two seem pretty darn estranged.

As part of an ongoing public dispute over who was truly responsible for the playbook in Tuscaloosa, Locksley took an opportunity Saturday to put Gattis in his place.

The crux of the issue is this -- while Locksley was tasked with picking the plays on game day, Gattis insists that he was truly the architect of the offensive plan based on ideas he would suggest during game week prep.

Well, the new Terrapins boss felt a certain way about that contextualization.

"Josh knows the truth, I think that’s really important to understand, and I also know that there’s a difference between suggestions and decisions, and he’ll have an opportunity to make decisions now," Locksley said. "And I’m sure that notebook he has upstairs has a lot of suggestions in them, and hopefully he’ll utilize them in the right way and make good decisions like I did for Alabama."

Boom. Roasted.

Locksley can't be bothered by this beef, but he won't be able to avoid it forever. Did you know that Michigan and Maryland face each other in less than three months' time?

Oh, yeah. That's going to be a hot one.
