Breakups are never easy.

This is especially true when big personalities and millions of dollars are involved.

So, it can't come as a shock that Marcus Stroman has some ill will towards his former team, the Toronto Blue Jays, after being traded away.

By now, it's public knowledge that Stroman was upset after finding out he was traded, but the former Jays ace insisted his anger was directed towards the way Toronto officials handled the situation rather than his feelings about becoming a New York Met.

Well, Stroman's bitterness showed up again on Friday when discussing Jays general manager Ross Atkins claiming they considered extending the 28-year-old.

“There was nothing offered ever from their perspective. If they do say that, it’s a complete lie. It is what it is. That’s the truth. I’m not going to beat around that," Stroman said.

Those are strong words from the ex-Jay, but he had the same attitude regarding extension talks with the team in Spring Training in February. It seems that the two sides were never close on anything, so maybe a breakup was the perfect solution.

Stroman seems to have good vibes and positive feelings towards his new organization, calling the Mets' rotation one of the best in baseball.

Stroman and the Mets will hope a great relationship leads to on-field success in 2019 and 2020. And who knows, maybe the budget-conscious Mets will be the team to sign Stroman to the extension he's been dying for.
