New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is widely regarded as one of the NFL's true good guys. However, he found himself in some self-inflicted hot water on Wednesday after he conveyed his opposition to players kneeling during the national anthem. A number of players around the league -- including some of his Saints teammates -- have come out and blasted Brees for his failure (or refusal) to recognize that Colin Kaepernick ignited this trend to protest racial oppression across the country. Malcolm Jenkins, who played for New Orleans with Brees from 2009-2013 and re-signed with the franchise this offseason, posted his response to the 13-time Pro Bowler's shocking comments in an impassioned video on Instagram. WARNING: the clip contains NSFW language.

What was that we said about Brees absolutely decimating the Saints' team chemistry?

Jenkins deleted the original three-minute post, so bits and pieces are starting to make the rounds on social media. However, this was clearly the most telling part of the video. Not only did the three-time Pro Bowler question his friendship with Brees, but he cussed him out without hesitation.

As the choked-up Jenkins notes, Brees' comments really couldn't have come at a worse time. George Floyd's tragic death served as another tally in the disturbingly long list of examples that proves Kaepernick was right to take a stand.

It really doesn't make much to understand the message that the former San Francisco 49ers gunslinger was trying to send while kneeling. Brees still misinterpreting his intentions four years after the fact is ridiculous and Jenkins was right to eviscerate his quarterback. The 41-year-old vet has serious work to do in terms of mending his relationship with Jenkins and the rest of his Saints teammates...if that's even possible.
