The ratings for the best defensive players in football in Madden 20 have been released, and with that comes the annual tradition of bashing EA for inevitably messing up at least one of them.

Madden 20 Linebacker Ratings

This category, which includes pass rushers as well as off-ball linebackers, features two of the four members of the 99 Club -- Seattle's Bobby Wagner and Chicago's Khalil Mack. Carolina Panthers superstar Luke Kuechly pulls up with a respectable 98 overall, while Texans pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney earned a 92.

Second-year players Leighton Vander Esch and Darius Leonard earned an 86 and an 84 respectively, while recovering Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier is in the game with an 84 rating as well.

Madden 20 Defensive Line Ratings

The top three is about as uncontroversial as possible, as Aaron Donald, JJ Watt, and Fletcher Cox pulled in the three highest ratings. Browns budding superstar Myles Garrett earned a 91, while one of the most underrated guys in the league in Saints defensive end Cam Jordan got his due with a 91.

One big miss is Bears pass rusher Akiem Hicks, who was only given a rating of 87.

Madden 20 Safety Ratings

Brand new Baltimore Raven Earl Thomas is the highest rated safety in the game at 95, followed by Harrison Smith at 94, Malcolm Jenkins at 91, Eddie Jackson with a 91, and Jamal Adams with a 90.

Rookie sensation Derwin James will be an 86 in Madden 20, but he could end up in the mid 90s with another dominant season in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Chiefs' newly-acquired star Tyrann Mathieu is an 87 overall.

Madden 20 Cornerback Ratings

The top two corners are Jacksonville's Jalen Ramsey at 96 and New England's Stephon Gilmore at 94. While Patrick Peterson remains ageless and underrated with his 92 overall score. Players like Marshon Lattimore and Chris Harris finally got their due with an appropriate rating.

One major disappointment is the fact that Xavien Howard was only given an 83 overall rating, despite being one of the best corners in football in 2018, absurdly entering the season with a lower rating than Nickell Robey-Coleman, Marlon Humphrey, Tre'Davious White and William Jackson.
