Sometimes, confidence gets the best of an athlete, especially in baseball. Enter New York Yankees first baseman Luke Voit. While facing the Baltimore Orioles in Spring Training action on Sunday, Voit clobbered a pitch deep to left field. The muscular Voit thought it was a sure-fire homer, so he began his slow trot around the bases. The thing is, the ball didn't fly over the wall, but instead bounced off of it. When Voit realized it, he was limited to just a single.

That's poor awareness from Voit. He could have gotten at least a double if he didn't pimp his hit. That deep ball was all for naught, as he stumbled to head back to first base.

This will further add fuel to the fire for those who are against bat flips and pimping homers in today's game, even though this contest is ultimately meaningless. Need to get these celebrations into midseason form, too!
