Alabama Win is Very Clearly Joe Burrow's Heisman Moment

To say that the LSU-Alabama showdown lived up to expectations would exactly describe the phenomenon it personified, but we're not so sure that college football fans expected THAT significant of a humdinger.

In the end, 87 points were scored in this Big 12-like offensive monsoon that saw Ed Orgeron's Tigers emerge victorious over Nick Saban's Crimson Tide by a final score of 46-41.

There's no doubting that the result will have massive implications on the College Football Playoff race, but the real story to take from this game is that Joe Burrow has cemented his case as this year's Heisman Trophy favorite. In fact, the NCAA might as well just give him the hardware right now.

We couldn't agree more, Clay Travis (and that never happens).

Alabama's defense certainly isn't the world-beater of years past, but we are still talking about a unit that was only giving up 15.3 points per game coming into Saturday's tilt.

Burrow waltzed into Tuscaloosa and quite literally delivered countless buzzkills to a Bryant-Denny Stadium crowd that was begging for an opportunity to erupt. The 22-year-old gunslinger completed 31 of his 39 pass attempts, which is good for an astounding 79.5 completion percentage, for 393 yards and three scores.

He added 64 yards on the ground, and a big chunk of that came on what turned out to be LSU's game-clinching drive in the closing minutes.

When all is said and done, Burrow will go on to eclipse each of the Tigers' most notable passing records. But more importantly, he led LSU to victory in a must-win game on the road in Tuscaloosa against the vaunted Crimson Tide.

Just go ahead and pencil Burrow in as the 2019 Heisman. You might call it premature, but we'll tab it thoroughly deserved.
