Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton learned just how tough the NFL business can be. This past Tuesday, on Dalton's 32nd birthday, the team let the signal caller know that he's being benched in favor of rookie Ryan Finley.

While it was a necessary move for a Bengals team that's in contention for a top five pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, many viewed it as harsh.

Bengals fans stepped up in a huge way, donating $14 each, in honor of his jersey number, to the Andy and JJ Dalton Foundation. As of Thursday, Dalton's charitable organization saw an increase of $4,000 through over 200 donations since he was benched.

The Andy and JJ Dalton Foundation began back in 2011, when the two were students at Texas Christian University. The foundation helps serve the families of pediatric patients in the Cincinnati area. All in all, the program helped near five million people.

This isn't the first time fans helped out Dalton's charity. After Dalton helped the Buffalo Bills earn an AFC Wild Card berth by defeating the Baltimore Ravens in Week 17 of the 2017 season, Bills fans donated near $800,000 as a thank you to the quarterback.

While his time with the Bengals appears to be near its end, Dalton can take solace in the fact that the fan base helped a foundation he holds near and dear to his heart. The team may have moved on, but the fans haven't forgotten his efforts over the past nine years.
