In one of the more underlying storylines of the NFL's hectic offseason, the Green Bay Packers shockingly opted to part ways with Pro Bowl defensive tackle Mike Daniels.

The Iowa product spent the majority of the offseason rehabbing a foot injury that put an end to his 2018 campaign with the Pack. Just as he got healthy, however, Green Bay cut ties with him -- which the 30-year-old is apparently totally fine with.

In fact, Daniels, now a member of the Detroit Lions, is astoundingly relieved that he's no longer employed by the Pack as he unleashed in a recent interview with MLive.com

“You come into the NFL, you work so hard,” Daniels said in the interview. “You just give everything you’ve got every single day. You walk into that building and say, ‘They’re not going to cut me. I’m not going to get cut. I’m not going to get released. I’m going to make it hard for them.’ So when it happened, and then I saw I had an opportunity to play for the Lions, I said, ‘Man, I’m glad I got cut.’ I’m really excited to be here. Really excited to be here.”

Sheesh.

Circle those calendars for Week 6 of the NFL season, ladies and gents. On Oct. 14, the Packers welcome the Lions to Lambeau Field for the first clash of the year between the NFC North rivals.

There's no doubting that Daniels' calendar is already marked.
