After a great first season in Tampa Bay, star defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul was struck with yet another bizarre offseason injury in May when he crashed his Ferrari and fractured a vertebra in his neck. He posted a since-deleted image on Instagram on Tuesday, which he captioned "if you woke up this morning, count your blessings."

Based on his post and the most recent updates from The Athletic writer Greg Auman, it appears Pierre-Paul is in jeopardy of missing a significant chunk of the upcoming season because of the injury.

JPP remains in a neck brace and is set to be re-evaluated in two months. Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians said last month that the earliest the 30-year-old could return is October.

Pierre-Paul had 12.5 sacks for the Bucs last season, the first time he's posted double-digit sacks since his 2014 season with the Giants. He's proven that he's still a very valuable pass-rusher off the edge.

Just four years removed from a firework-related injury that took off the better portion of three fingers and permanently left him with a club for a right hand on the field, it's unfortunate that Pierre-Paul suffered another off-field accident.

Tampa Bay will be hoping to see him back on the field as soon as possible, as they look to be in for a tough season that will be made even more difficult without him.
