VIDEO: Lance Berkman Cannot Claim Astros Have Been 'Punished Enough' Considering He Knows Nothing
By Karl Rasmussen

Just about everyone around baseball has weighed in on the Astros' sign-stealing scandal at this point, so it was only a matter of time until former Houston slugger Lance Berkman gave his two cents on the situation. When discussing the cheating saga, Berkman suggested that the Astros had been punished enough already, and that the organization wasn't a dirty one.

Hmmm.
While it's no surprise to see the former Astro come to his club's defense, his suggestion that they've been punished enough doesn't pass the smell test. After all, it's not like Berkman was privy to the sum total of improper actions that took place over what is allegedly multiple seasons.
At the end of the day, to call the Astros anything but dirty in terms of their ability to abide by basic MLB rules would not be credible. Berkman's attempt to defend the team's actions by labeling them simply as "mistakes" won't win over too many sketpics at this point.
Should more evidence come out against the Astros, including the potential use of buzzers or other electronic aids by players, fans would be outraged if more discipline isn't handed down. While Berkman surely is hoping this is the end of the scandal, it could very well just be the beginning.

Berkman addressed the media after being enshrined into the Astros Hall of Fame following a 12-year tenure with the team from 1999 to 2010. While no one expected him to take brazen shots at the organization, his defense of his former team feels over-generous.
