After his 2019 season with the Boston Celtics ended in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, Kyrie Irving officially hit the open market (even after *promising* to return to Beantown last offseason). While there was plenty of speculation as to where he would sign, it quickly turned to dust after reports of his interest in signing with the Brooklyn Nets.

It turns out, the Nets are near and dear to Irving's heart.

After officially signing his four-year contract with Brooklyn, Irving posted a throwback photo of himself as a child, holding an old school New Jersey Nets basketball.

That's right, not the black and white color scheme that fans know of today. No, that's the throwback navy blue, red, and silver Nets that many in New Jersey grew to love.

Irving was one of those kids, as he grew up in West Orange, N.J., with dreams of becoming an NBA star, and a lot of that is due to watching plenty of championship level, Jason Kidd-led Nets basketball.

Now, Irving returns close to home with hopes of bringing an NBA Championship to his team. With Kevin Durant and DeAndre Jordan joining him, the Nets will be favorites out of the Eastern Conference in the next couple of years.
