In one of the more bizarre reports that have surfaced from training camp, offensive lineman Kyle Long was given the old heave-ho out of Bears practice on Wednesday.

The three-time Pro-Bowler was reportedly involved in a violent fight with rookie defensive end Jalen Dalton, during which he allegedly ripped off the rook's helmet and began clubbing him with it, and then threw up on the sideline.

Head coach Matt Nagy subsequently addressed the incident, claiming that the organization would handle it in an internal manner. And it appears the Bears did just that, as Long didn't travel with his teammates to MetLife Stadium for Friday's preseason showdown against the Giants.

"We have a bunch of high-character people," said Nagy on Wednesday after the squabble. "Now it starts with us as coaches making sure we lead these guys the right way. And we also have to make sure that they understand that that can’t happen. That just can’t happen.”

This news really shouldn't come at a surprise to many. Would you permit a player to partake in a game just two days after he attempted to attack his teammate with a freaking helmet?

We didn't think so.

All told, we can expect Long to make amends with Dalton and return to practice as soon as the rest of the Bears return to the Windy City. That's not to say the vet lineman won't be on a short leash from here on out, however.
