Knicks Using Big Money on Terry Rozier Might Be Dumbest Possible Thing They Could Do

With so much uncertainty surrounding the best free agents in the 2019 class, the New York Knicks have gone to great lengths to draft a backup plan if they strike out on all the big names this year.

While names like Julius Randle or DeMarcus Cousins would be solid signings, the Knicks are considering paying top dollar for disgruntled Boston Celtics point guard Terry Rozier.

Terry Rozier? The same Terry Rozier who couldn't even average 10 points per game last season? The same Terry Rozier who has only started 30 games in his entire career?

While no one is doubting Rozier's status as a quality rotation player, backing up the Brinks truck for him and making him a starter is as good an investment as lighting money on fire.

If the Knicks fan base is already going to be irate after failing to land big free agents in this hypothetical scenario, will bringing Rozier to Madison Square Garden pacify them? Probably not.

Remember when the Knicks missed out on LeBron in 2010 and ended up having to dumpster dive to round out their roster? If they don't pay their cards right, 2019 could look awfully similar.
