The narrative for the last month and a half was that Kevin Durant is leaving Golden State and heading to the New York Knicks because apparently there is some weird calculus involved with regards to championships in the NBA wherein titles in New York is worth more.

With Durant a full believer in that concept, he's been signed, sealed, and delivered for some time now. However, a new report claims that the Los Angeles Clippers are lurking in the weeds, waiting to steal KD away.

If this happens, the Knicks truly are hexed.

The Knicks have set up their entire roster and cap situation in order to attract Durant and a friend of his. There is a non-zero chance that they could reel in Kyrie and Anthony Davis in addition to Durant.

If he spurns them for LA, not only will the Knicks have to reconcile the fact that they traded away Kristaps Porzingis for cap space, but their pie in the sky vision of making the Knicks great again with Durant will go by the wayside in favor of lesser max players in the Tobias Harris and Jimmy Butler mold. Either that, or their fans keep waiting.

Knicks fans better cross their fingers and hope James Dolan doesn't screw this up. It's truly the worst position in sports to be in.
