New Orleans Pelicans vice president David Griffin was the talk of the NBA after landing Zion Williamson in the NBA Draft and getting a handsome haul of players and draft picks in exchange for Anthony Davis.

On Thursday, Griffin made even more news-- but for his critical comments about his tenure as Cleveland Cavaliers general manager in a Sports Illustrated feature. Griff cited how "miserable" he was trying to build a championship team around LeBron James in such an "inorganic" environment, and that it eventually came to be that he couldn't wait to leave.

Kendrick Perkins, former Cavalier, ripped Griffin for his comments, insisting he wouldn't be in the position he's in right now in New Orleans if he didn't have James on his team.

As you can tell, Perkins isn't a fan of what Griffin had to say about the King.

Perkins also points out that Griffin's recent comments were contradictory to when he called James a "professional" in the past. The former NBA big man ends his rant by saying the root of the Cavaliers shortcomings had much more to do with Griffin himself than LeBron.

Griffin now has his chance with the Pelicans, as he's assembled quite a squad to build around a rookie star in Williamson, quality starters and depth pieces for the future, and a boatload of picks.

The exec's comments were always going to anger those who are supportive of LeBron James, however, and we can add Kendrick Perkins to that list that will no doubt continue to expand.
