Just in case you forgot, Justin Verlander and Gerrit Cole are the best pitching duo in baseball.

Good luck to any American League team who tries to matchup with these two in October.

The Astros aces proved their worth once again in back-to-back masterpieces over the holiday weekend. Justin Verlander tossed a no-hitter on Sunday, striking out 14, and then Gerrit Cole recorded as many strikeouts in his outing on Monday.

The pair became the first teammates since 1893 to strikeout 14 in back-to-back games. Next, they hope to become the first teammates since Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling in 2002 to each strikeout 300 in a season. Cole sits at 266 on the year, while JV has whiffed 257.

Verlander and Cole have pitched better than ever since they became members of the Astros. They both have ERAs under 3.00 with Houston and will likely finish first and second in this year's AL Cy Young voting.

Awards and records are nice, but with these two spearheading their rotation the sky is the limit for the Astros. They have a rotation that matches up well with any team in baseball and it will be exciting to see them carve through hitters in October.

Cole is paving his way to an EXTREMELY lucrative deal come the offseason.
