Justin Turner Calls Out Reporting of Mookie Betts Trade Mess on Twitter
By Jack Murphy

As the future of Mookie Betts is still unclear, MLB reporters are scurrying to find out what the latest scoop is on what lies ahead for the former MVP. However, criticism has risen about premature reporting these analysts use in order to be the first one to leak out the information.
Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner had a few words for those reporters who try to be the quickest ones to get out information.
Here’s a concept. Let trades happen, and then report on them! All these reporters only care about being first. Meanwhile players and their families are emotional wrecks not knowing if they are or aren’t being traded from the only org they’ve known. No one cares who was 1st https://t.co/9GC1DrCiQM

The veteran third baseman is not a fan of trades being announced before they are finalized. However, he does have a point, as many reporters announce things before they are completely set in stone, which causes the public to believe false information.
While the ones responsible are mainly concerned with the public attention they will receive for breaking the news, they don't take into account the uncertainty that it bestows on the players and their families.
Last point, I don’t think people, including myself, realize the impact that 280 characters can have on a person. While it seems like just a harmless report on 1 end, it can send the person/family on the other side into a tailspin. Again no one cares who’s 1st. #MultipleLevelTweet

While Turner is primarily calling out MLB reporters, this is an issue in the entire industry. Pundits are so obsessed with being responsible for breaking information that they will not wait until confirmation.
