Jordan Love Confirms Aaron Rodgers Reached Out to Congratulate Him on Packers Selection

Jordan Love was immediately put in an awkward situation the moment the Green Bay Packers used a first-round pick on him Thursday night. He shows up as the quarterback of the future, and is in the same situation Aaron Rodgers was in back in 2005, interestingly enough.
The selection had analysts and fans alike wondering if Rodgers would be cordial at all to the young quarterback. Love revealed he did in fact hear from Rodgers, who is handling this like a professional.
Jordan Love told @MariaTaylor on the ABC draft broadcast that he connected with Aaron Rodgers today.

"I was able to talk with him earlier," Love said. "Really good guy. Just congratulated me, and I was just letting him know that I was excited to be able to work with him."
Rodgers entered the NFL in his own awkward situation 15 years ago. He had to deal with Brett Favre, an all-time great who was in no hurry to give up his job to the youngster. Rodgers seems to know that any frustration he has should be directed toward the organization and not Love.
By the time Aaron Rodgers' contract is tradeable or cuttable, Green Bay will be deciding if they want to exercise Jordan Love's 5th year option.

All told, the Packers using a first-round pick on Love remains confusing. The team could have used major upgrades at nearly every other position, and there doesn't seem to be any intention of moving on from Rodgers in the next year or two. Yet the team clearly loved Love, and the good news is the young quarterback won't have to enter training camp worried about Rodgers giving him the coldest of cold shoulders.
