Jon Lester's Quote After Elimination From Playoffs Proves Cubs Need to Make Changes

It's hard to come to grips with it, but one of the reasons the Chicago Cubs have been eliminated from postseason contention is because of their starting pitching, specifically the sub-par season from veteran southpaw Jon Lester.

As you can imagine, as one of the leaders of this team, Lester was asked about the ball club and where they're headed. He was pretty accurate in his assessment.

"There are teams like us tucking our tails between our legs and going home, and teams like the Brewers and Cardinals that are moving on." Lester said.

Yeah, he's right about that. Lester's comments also tells you that changes need to be made for next year, and based off Theo Epstein's comments throughout the year, it will happen, sweepingly.

I'm sure Lester, on a human level, isn't going to be happy to see coaches and teammates being shown the door, but he's sticking around for this change, which he knows needs to happen.

Lester is a gamer and wants to win. With the way the Cubs have played since the World Series in 2016, there's nothing left for the Cubs to do but make drastic changes.
