Two former adversaries both hope to get back on the horse in 2020.

Former Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell and former Blue Jays manager John Gibbons both hope to become skippers again next season.

Farrell won the World Series with the 2007 Red Sox in his first year as their pitching coach, a role he held for four years. After that, he became the manager of the Blue Jays, and held that role for two seasons, the first of which the team finished at .500.

Farrell returned to Boston as the manager in 2013 and won the World Series with the Red Sox in his first year in that role.

He remained Boston's manager through 2017, and led the team to two more AL East titles. In 2018, the Cincinnati Reds hired him as a scout.

Gibbons coached the Blue Jays from 2002-2004, when he took over as manager. He held that position from 2004-2008 and again from 2013-2018. Though he did not reach the postseason in his first stint, the Blue Jays reached the ALCS in both 2015 and 2016.

These two experienced coaches could very well find a new home with all the managerial vacancies at the moment.
