John Elway's Joe Flacco Disaster is His Biggest QB Failure Yet

The Denver Broncos have had quarterback issues ever since the retirement of future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning back in 2016. You'd think that general manager John Elway, who has received induction in Canton, would know how to find the perfect quarterback of the Broncos' future.

The proceeding three seasons proved to be a nightmare for Elway, because he couldn't properly evaluate quarterbacks. But perhaps his biggest blunder of them all was the trading for an aging Joe Flacco. After just one season under center in the Mile High City, Flacco was shown the door via a failed physical designation.

Elway made the massive mistake by declaring that Flacco was "coming into his prime" once officially joining the Broncos. Once he took the field, it never happened, as he showed he hasn't had it since winning Super Bowl XLVII back in 2013.

Flacco lasted just eight games, and he threw for a measly 1,822 yards, six touchdowns, and five interceptions in that span. You sure Flacco was entering his prime, John?

A neck injury sidelined Flacco, but luckily for Elway and the Broncos, they appear to have found their future in Drew Lock. The second-round rookie took over for the latter part of the season, and threw for 1,020 yards, seven touchdowns, and three interceptions in just five games. In less games, he nearly matched Flacco in every category.

While the quarterback position in Denver is "Locked Down" right now, the Flacco trade has already done its damage that will further hurt Elway's reputation.
