The Philadelphia 76ers ended their Process with a devastating Game 7 loss to the Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference semifinals this past week. With just 4.2 seconds left in the game, the Raptors passed the ball inbounds to Kawhi Leonard, who took a few dribbles and shot a contested pull-up jumpshot at the buzzer. As the shot rattled in, the entire Philadelphia organization was crushed.
This was evident for star center Joel Embiid, who was unable to control his emotions after the shot, and social media was quick to notice. People then did what they do best on the internet, of course, and made Embiid a meme. And not the kind he usually embraces.
I would best describe his display as the true embodiment of an ugly cry. And I'm sure most of the internet would agree with me.
But Joel, being the funny guy the NBA has come to see him as, made light of the situation in the most Joel way possible. Just a few days later, the infamous meme is now his Twitter profile picture, complete with the caption, "Processing."
I take this gesture as a sign that Embiid is beginning to start his process towards an even better season in Philadelphia next year. And I know Philly fans are doing the same.
