The NHL's San Jose Sharks recently received great news from their legendary center Joe Thornton, and it was delivered in a pretty unusual manner. But the Sharks expected nothing less from the quirky long-time veteran.

Sharks GM Doug Wilson was woken up extra early Tuesday morning with a text and a facetime call from Thornton saying that he planned to return for the 2019-20 season.

Wilson was pleasantly surprised to learn of Thornton's plans to return despite the 4:30 a.m. wake up call they came with, claiming that Thornton is just special in the way he does things.

And Wilson is not wrong. Thornton will be returning at the age of 40 for his 22nd season in the NHL, his 15th with the Sharks, and is even hopeful for more if he is still feeling up to it.

This news has definitely made the offseason a lot easier for San Jose. They now know that they will have Jumbo Joe back on the ice for at least one more run at the Stanley Cup.
