It's understood that veteran quarterbacks assume a mentorship role when a young prospect joins the team-- regardless of how the elder gunslinger feels about the possibility that they're training their replacement.

Well, Joe Flacco, he might have missed the boat on that one. The Raven-turned-Bronco gave an incredibly bizzare quote on how he plans to mentor the Broncos' second-round draft pick Drew Lock.

"I don't look at that as my job," Flacco said of teaching Lock the ropes.

That's right, everyone's favorite "elite" QB doesn't want to pass on the tools of the trade to the next generation of passers.

Maybe he's still irked about being ousted by Lamar Jackson in Baltimore, but even if that's the case, his own personal qualms shouldn't influence how he treats Lock, a rookie who will need the full support of his team in order to bridge the gap from college to the NFL without losing his confidence.

At 34 years old, Flacco is fully living on his own plane of reality. It's evident that the organization wants him to coach up Lock, but he still views himself as a franchise guy despite having not posted a passer rating over 90 since 2014.

Lock is a tenderfoot who could use some guidance. Flacco could at least toss a few tips his way now and then.
