Michigan cleaned house after another disappointing season during the Jim Harbaugh era, losing co-defensive line coach Greg Mattison and linebackers coach Al Washington to Ohio State of all places.

Despite constantly ranking at the top of college football in most defensive categories for most of the year, Don Brown's defense was sliced apart by Dwayne Haskins in their rivalry game against the Buckeyes and by Feleipe Franks during Florida's Peach Bowl win. Harbaugh took the lowest road possible when asked about the differences between this year and last, subtly hinting that Washington and Mattison didn't want to be held accountable.

Now that is how you shift the blame on to others, especially when they can't defend themselves. Bravo, Jim!

These two organized units that were among the best in all of college football and sent multiple players to the NFL, including two first-round picks in Rashan Gary and Devin Bush. Maybe the blame lies with the offense? Shea Patterson? Perhaps even Harbaugh himself, who has yet to beat Ohio State or win the Big Ten?

Michigan will have another solid season on the back of a weak bottom half of the Big Ten and another strong recruiting class, but Harbaugh needs to do some serious self reflection, ideally before the season starts or Ohio State kicks their butt again.
