Jim Harbaugh Should Shoulder Some Blame for Shea Patterson's Struggles at Senior Bowl

Quarterbacks have been a bit of a mixed bag at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, as even the likes of Jalen Hurts have struggled mightily in the frosty Alabama air. The worst quarterback on either the North or the South team by a country mile, however, is former Michigan signal caller Shea Patterson.

Patterson, who caused Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell to scream "Come on!" in disgust after missing several consecutive downfield throws, is a testament to the ability, or rather lack thereof, of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh to nurture and develop elite quarterback prospects.

Harbaugh was an offensive coach that threw for nearly 30,000 yards and 129 touchdowns as a pro. How does he keep screwing up Michigan quarterbacks? Not only has he failed to make Patterson a better passer, but he's actually regressed in some spots.

At 6-1 and 204 pounds with below average arm talent and velocity, Patterson was going to hang his hat on playmaking and his ability to read a defense. That has been subpar, as he constantly struggles under pressure and forces some poor throws.

Pair that with below-average accuracy, especially downfield, and you have a recipe for disaster.

Take note, every star quarterback recruit that wants to wear maize and blue. Harbaugh had a 5-star dropped into his lap, and we've seen no significant improvement after two years under him in Mobile.
