After a solid rookie season, former Philadelphia Eagles running back Josh Adams found himself the victim of a roster crunch and an overcrowded backfield, and was released despite having led the team in rushing last season.

The New York Jets wasted no time in adding one of the best undrafted finds from last season, and signed the former Notre Dame running back to their practice squad.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pound Adams ran for 1,430 yards his last year in college, but questions about his lateral speed and athleticism dropped him out of the draft.

The Eagles picked him up, and he played well after being forced into the RB1 role due to injuries. Adams led the team with 511 yards on 4.3 yards per carry while scoring three touchdowns. Adams will reunite with former Eagles executive Joe Douglas, who helped bring the Notre Dame product to Philly.

While Le'Veon Bell and Ty Montgomery are set as the top backs this year, don't be surprised if questions about Bilal Powell's health or Trenton Cannon's ability make Adams the third running back by the end of the year.
