Jessica Mendoza Not in Broadcast Booth for Phillies-Giants Sunday Night Baseball After Car Accident
By Mark Powell

The Sunday Night Baseball booth is down a broadcaster as the Phillies take on the Giants from Oracle Park.
Originally scheduled to be called by the trio of Matt Vasgersian, Alex Rodriguez and Jessica Mendoza, the latter was deemed unavailable due to a car accident in Southern California.
Jessica Mendoza’s car was rear-ended at full speed on Southern Cal freeway Friday and won’t be able to make #ESPN Sunday Night broadcast. She likely will return in a week.

Per Bob Nightengale, Mendoza's car was rear-ended on Friday at full speed, but thankfully the 38-year-old didn't suffer any major injuries. In an update given by Vasgersian in the Sunday Night Baseball booth at the top of the first inning, Mendoza will likely return on the call in a week's time.

ESPN will give Mendoza ample opportunity to recover from the mental strain that comes with an accident of this ilk. For now, we can all take solace in the fact that Mendoza appears to have avoided physical ailments.
Mendoza joined the Sunday Night Baseball booth in 2015 after a year as a featured analyst on Baseball Tonight. Her addition to the call has been, for the most part, a roaring success. We wish her a speedy recovery.
