Jerry Jones has won three championships during his 30 years as owner of the Dallas Cowboys, and is willing to write a big enough check to just about anyone to keep the Cowboys at the pinnacle of the NFL.

At age 76, Jones has made it clear that he isn't affording the coaching staff or the players the patience he normally would, and is going all out in order to get one more Lombardi trophy for his case. Shelling out $90 million over six years to running back Ezekiel Elliott is proof of that.

Jones might be a polarizing figure to many, but you can't knock him for not trying to build a winner and cashing in whatever chips he has to keep his star players together for as long as possible.

In addition to Elliott, right tackle La'El Collins, linebacker Jaylon Smith, All-Pro guard Zack Martin, and pass rusher DeMarcus Lawrence have all been signed to long-term contracts, with a total of $225 million in guaranteed money being doled out to those four players.

Jones is making a statement. This is HIS team. These are the guys HE drafted. He still has a heavy influence on personnel decision and is the face of the Cowboys. Why do you think Jason Garrett is still employed? It's all about Jerry and he just has a few more obstacles to overcome.

The Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper contract negotiations might get a little messy, but Jones now has the core of his playoff-caliber team signed for the foreseeable future in a winnable division. Maybe he will get ring No. 4 before it's all said and done.
