Jason Garrett is all but officially on his way out in Dallas based on all available information. According to the latest buzz, however, the soon-to-be-former Cowboys head coach is using his apparent last days with the team to try and convince ownership to keep him on for 2020.

Well, then.

Despite his teams constantly underperforming, Garrett still thinks he can do something to convince Jerry Jones that he is the man for the job.

Good luck with that.

Garrett went 88-70 as head coach of the Cowboys, making the playoffs three times but never even advancing to the NFC Championship game. Garrett has gone just 27-21 over the last three years despite playing in a clearly winnable division and commanding a team with multiple Pro Bowl-level players.

Despite Garrett's best efforts, the Cowboys appear ready to move on without him. According to the latest odds, Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh, and Oklahoma Sooners head coach Lincoln Riley could all be in the mix to take over in the Metroplex.

Garrett did a serviceable job for the Cowboys over the last decade, but "serviceable" doesn't keep you around when Jerry Jones is hunting for a championship. Just focus on getting an offensive coordinator job somewhere nice, Jason. Don't keep holding onto the past.
