A trip to the Super Bowl is no easy feat, and at 24 years old, Jared Goff made it to the big game despite falling to the New England Patriots. That's quite the accomplishment and indicates he was deserving of the big contract extention he received just before the season, right?

Not exactly. When you get into the nitty-gritty of the Rams QB's stats and look at the accompanying price tag, you can't help but cringe a bit.

Goff is below the NFL average for both last season and this season in the following stats, so for Los Angeles fans out there, prepare to brace yourselves.

$110 million guaranteed to have the same amount of interceptions and touchdowns in your last 11 games? Yikes.

It should be noted that Goff's performances that earned him the massive payday came way before this, including his league-leading 12.9 yards per completion in 2017, which he matched last season. But it certainly isn't encouraging that his play has evidently declined from the first half of last season, especially when comparing Goff to the younger and much cheaper Josh Allen.

In this season so far, Goff has put up four touchdowns, three interceptions and 738 passing yards. Goff's talent is undeniable, but his play as of late can leave the Rams front office wondering if they jumped the gun on him.
