James Harden's Amazing Scoring Tear Deserves Way More Attention Than it's Getting

James Harden had another 40-point game on Friday.

And that sentence is the amount of enthusiasm most NBA fans have when they see the Rockets guard score this much. But seriously, look at what this man has done in his last six games.

This is absolutely absurd, like so absurd that we haven't seen these types of scoring numbers put up since Wilt Chamberlain.

Yes, his play style might be ugly to watch. It's not the most fun seeing a guy jack up step-back threes and shoot free throws all the time. But that doesn't excuse the media and fans for paying such little attention, comparatively speaking, to a feat like this. Imagine the coverage LeBron James or Kawhi Leonard would be getting for scoring this much while sharing the court with a high-usage former MVP like Russell Westbrook?

In fact, Harden just did do this against Kawhi, putting up 47 on an elite Clippers defense.

That's the other thing, it's not like the Rockets are losing while he's doing this. They're 9-3 right now, good enough for the second spot in the Western Conference. Harden might literally average 40 while leading his team to this best record in the league this season. It's actually possible.

So please, pay more attention to what Harden is doing. We may never see this kind of wizardry again.
