This is just too weird to be true -- but it is. On Tuesday, the New Orleans Saints made things official with Jameis Winston, locking in the former Buccaneers gunslinger on a one-year contract in free agency. He presumes to be the "true" No. 2 quarterback behind all-time legend Drew Brees, So, why is Jameis the backup and not Tayson Hill? Well, look no further than a very specific statistical comparison between the two.

It's wild stuff.

Yes, your eyes do not deceive you. Between the regular season and the playoffs, Hill has completed seven passes to his teammates.

Meanwhile, Saints players have caught 10 balls from Winston. We call those interceptions, but the point stands.

Let that sink in.

Either one of these guys would regale in the opportunity to be the next Teddy Bridgewater, who emerged off the bench in 2019 after Brees got injured and acquitted himself terrifically well, parlaying his strong play into a nice free agent deal with the Panthers, where he's the presumptive starter. That's not as likely from Hill due to his sheer lack of experience chucking the ball around.

Jameis, of course, chucks it around quite frequently. The numbers simply do not lie.
