Jameis Winston's Late Surge Has Bucs Expected to Bring Him Back in 2020 and That's a Bummer

The tale of Jameis Winston just refuses to end. NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported on Saturday morning that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are expected to bring back their former No.1 overall pick for the 2020 season.

Wait what?

This news comes in the wake of Winston's impressive surge to close out the year. Across his last four games -- all wins -- the 25-year-old signal caller has tossed 10 touchdowns while eclipsing the 400-yard mark in each of the last two weeks.

Essentially, this report confirms that Tampa Bay's front office has been seduced and utterly hoodwinked by Winston's play for the last month of the season -- during which, by the way, the turnovers have remained frequent.

If you're a Bucs fan, this is nothing short of maddening.

We're talking about a QB that has compiled 24 interceptions (!) this season. And their are still two games left to play. Not to mention that defenses have forced Winston to fumble the pigskin 12 (!) times this season, five of which were lost.

The Florida State product is as Jekyll and Hyde as any NFL player in recent memory. To think that the Bucs are going to reward him with either a roughly $27 million franchise tag or $25 million transition tag is a joke.

Tampa's on-paper talent is apparent, and one could argue they could compete in the NFC South with a gunslinger that doesn't turn the ball over. Heck, they're 7-7 with two games left to play with Winston under center.

Forget taking a sip; the Buccaneers are flat-out chugging the Jameis Kool-Aid. Good luck, guys.
