Some players avoid the bench press at the NFL combine. Quarterbacks, kickers, and punters may just decide to pass and focus on other important measurements and tests. But don't tell that to Arizona State punter Michael Turk, who may just have proven to be the strongest punter ever to grace the Combine. Turk took to the bench and shocked the room by banging out 25 reps of 225 pounds, far and away the most of any player at his position.

Just look at the shocked faces of the other draft prospects in the room as they roared in applause for the Arizona State product as he turned in rep after rep.

For comparison purposes, Turk, a punter, out-benched the likes of Rob Gronkowski and Jadeveon Clowney.

This is a guy who won't shy away from making a tackle in the NFL. Punt returners who think they have a free path to the end zone will have another significant threat to worry about in Turk.

It's not just his strength that stands out, however. Turk was named first-team All-Pac 12 in 2019 after averaging 46 yards per punt and a long of 75 yards. His kicking abilities mixed with his rare strength make him a candidate to be drafted as a punter in 2020.
