J.J. McCarthy out for 2024 season following knee surgery

Just like that, J.J. McCarthy's rookie season is over before it can even get started. Earlier in the week, news dropped that the first-round pick was being held out of practice due to knee soreness. Then, it was revealed he'd miss some time due to surgery.
Now, though, we know McCarthy won't be on the field until 2025. The breaking news arrived that McCarthy indeed will be out for the season after undergoing his surgery. The Vikings are keeping his long-term health in mind with this decision.

You've got to feel bad for McCarthy. After powering Michigan to a National Championship last season, he was taken by the Vikings on draft night, with fans hoping he'd lead the offense out onto the field for Week 1 against New York. Unfortunately for the Minnesota faithful, they'll have to wait much longer than expected to see the youngster make his regular season debut.
