Islanders Give up Monster Haul for Senators' JG Pageau in Deadline Deal
By Jerry Trotta

The New York Islanders have rebounded nicely from their disastrous road trip, where they scored two just goals during a four-game losing streak, by winning their next two at home.
Still, that road trip served as a glaring reminder that the Isles were in desperate need of acquiring more offensive talent ahead of the NHL trade deadline on Monday.
Well, the Islanders did just that by completing a trade for Ottawa Senators center Jean-Gabriel Pageau on deadline day. It's a tremendous get for New York, but it will come at a cost.
Pageau to Isles for a 1st in 2020 that shifts to a 1st in 2021 if the Isles pick in top 3 of the June Draft. No conditions on 2nd round pick in 2020. Conditional 3rd if the Isles win the Stanley Cup this year only.

The Senators will receive a first- and second-round pick in 2020, including a conditional third-round selection if the Islanders win the Stanley Cup this season. The first-rounder is protected, in case the Isles have a top-three pick in the 2020 draft, which would see the pick pushed back to 2021.
Pageau is an excellent add for the Islanders. But, this is an incredible return for Pierre Dorion and the Ottawa Senators. https://t.co/hsd6CmWnxC

Pageau is enjoying the most productive campaign of his eight-year career. The 27-year-old center has already set a career-high with 24 goals. He led Ottawa with 40 points before Monday's trade, and will bring a welcomed goal-scoring threat to an Islanders side with Stanley Cup aspirations.
But it's gonna cost 'em.
