Once upon a time, Sunshine Mike Clevinger was an Angels prospect, and all made sense in the baseball world, nickname-wise.

Now, Clevinger toils (successfully) in a much drearier climate in The Land, but the right deal this offseason just might send him back to Orange County.

Per reports, the Tribe has talked Clevinger with this particular AL West team, though it's, uh, (clears throat) gonna cost 'em.

There's been no progress as of yet IN PART because Jo Adell + someone else sort of feels like a non-starter.

Clevinger's come into his own the past few years and has established ace-like tendencies, going 13-4 with a 2.71 mark and ridiculous 169 whiffs in 129 innings last year. Of course, that innings total is a bit limited due to injury concerns.

The only issue with a swap, of course, is LAA has built much of their future outfield around the 20-year-old Adell; he's nearly at can't-miss prospect status, and will probably get a chance to make an impact early in 2020, once service time concerns are quelled.

For now, there's a reason these discussions have hummed rather than boiled over.
