Hue Jackson Gives Entirely Depressing Account of Life After He Was Fired as Browns Coach

There's no doubt former Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson deserved to be fired by the organization.

The 53-year-old was let go by the franchise last October, with the team sitting on a 2-5-1 record through eight games. During his two-and-a-half year stint as the HC in The Land, Jackson held a woeful 3-36-1 mark.

Because sports can drive fans and the media crazy, Hue fell victim to an abundance of criticism. Since his firing, Jackson has been struggling to see the light at the end of tunnel and revealed his darkest moments in a feature piece with Sports Illustrated.

On the day he was fired -- Oct. 29, 2018, Jackson told Browns owner Jimmy Haslam and general manager John Dorsey to "get the [expletive] out of my office." The former HC subsequently drove to his home, and lived in his basement guest room for three days with the lights shut.

Then, depression kicked in and it even extended to his wife, Michelle, and his daughters. Essentially, Jackson was worried, even paranoid, that he failed everybody he ever shared a relationship with.

His friends and former players responded by sending him text messages to liven his drowned spirits, but it was for naught. Jackson would even reply "Stop texting me," in some instances.

Being hired by the Bengals did him wonders. “I needed that jolt,” Jackson said. “Marvin Lewis helped me. What he did wasn’t about football. I don’t know what would have happened had he not.”

Jackson's morale has since (thankfully) improved, but he still considers himself a coach without a team and would love nothing more than be given a chance to reform his reputation in the NFL.
