In the past, sports news was broken via live television broadcasts, whether from a news program or the game itself.

On Sunday, it appeared NFL fans got a scoop the old fashioned way. During NBC's broadcast of the Pittsburgh Steelers against the Tennessee Titans, play-by-play commentator Al Michaels claimed that the Houston Texans signed free agent running back Jay Ajayi, in wake of Lamar Miller's torn ACL diagnosis.

The masses logged onto their Twitter accounts to find out if the news was legit or not. There's perhaps no better reputable source than Texans writer John McClain, who tweeted that Houston has...not signed Ajayi.

In case you needed further proof, ESPN's Field Yates also confirmed that the former Miami Dolphins and Philadelphia Eagles rusher is not heading to H-Town at the time of Sunday's broadcast.

Speculation has run rampant as to what the Texans will do now that Miller is out of commission for the upcoming season.

Ajayi is arguably the best available running back on the open market, but is coming off an ACL tear of his own, suffered last October. In four games last season, Ajayi rushed for 184 yards and three touchdowns on 45 carries.

While Jay Ajayi can't be ruled out as a potential option for the Houston Texans, it's not happening at this time. Sorry, Al Michaels.
